The diamond casino heist is the biggest ever to hit GTA online, and requires drawing up meticulous setup plans to walk away with the maximum payout. Here’s a run-down of the setup board for the diamond casino heist in GTA online so you can beat the house.
There are multiple different preparation options for you to choose from at nearly every stage of setup for the diamond casino heist – from when you’re casing the joint to when you’re breaking into the vault.
The first time you successfully run the heist is free. But you’ll have to pay to play thereafter.
GTA online diamond casino heist set up
Setup: arcade equipment
Next head over to your new digs and a cutscene will play and you’ll be able to begin the first set up missions by walking over to the laptop in the empty arcade basement.
Interacting with the laptop launches the first setup mission – arcade equipment – where you track down some initial kit for your hideout.
Make your way to the post op depository and chase down the jacked truck. Take out the drivers and schlep back to your arcade.
On your return another cutscene plays where lester runs through the prospective plan in three parts: scope, prepping, score. He also briefly goes over the three ways that you can play the heist: stealthy, aggressive, or “the big con”.
First on your list is scoping out the casino for opportunities.
Scoping out the casino – scope every entrance and POI
These are all optional objectives that give you more options when you’re infiltrating the casino. Scoping is split into two missions, scope out the casino and scope out the vault contents.
You can scope all of the access points in scoping the casino, but you can only get the first six points of interest. The others are gathered from the separate scout “vault contents” mission.
These are the six access points to the diamond casino :

Main points of interest
- Security guard – stood next to the elevator by the front desk
- Keypad – on the casino floor, next to restricted access doors
- 1st security camera – found on the ceiling of the main casino rooms
- 2nd security camera – found on the roof and roof terrace
- Valet – out the front door of the casino
- Vault blueprints – on the desk in the management office (requires VIP membership, go through inside track towards the back of the casino and you’ll see the door down a side corridor).
Vault contents points of interest
To find these you need to move between the different camera views in the time allotted.
- Carpeted room – POI pops as soon as you switch to this view
- Metal detectors – in grey room
- Security office door – doors in the room with the grey stripe running down the middle
- Staff elevator – in the purple diamond casino room, pan to the two elevators on the right
- Blue door – in the corridor with the elevator and blue door, pan to the door on the left
Finding these allows you to buy extras from your set up board, letting you find access points easier, or practise the skills you’ll need on the inside.

- Door security – $425,000 – practise hacking doors
- Vault door – $900,000 – practise cracking vault
Diamond casino heist – should you choose aggressive, silent and sneaky, or the big con
Now that you’ve earmarked your possible points of entry, it’s time to choose your approach.
They’re pretty self explanatory: aggressive means you hit the casino hard and violently, silent relies on clandestine stealth, while the big con goes full ocean’s eleven with disguises and subterfuge.
All of the routes require a similar amount of prep, so choose whichever you like the look of most – you can always play the others later.
If you need more detail, here’s a rundown of each.
Aggressive heist approach
If you’re a fan of GTA online’s combat, then this is the approach for you. It involves fighting the casino security all the way through the building and using thermal charges to blow the vault open as well as the locked doors inside.
It has six mandatory set up missions, and seven optional with a further locked objective.
The six which you have to do are:
- Get unmarked weapons
- Find getaway vehicles
- Acquire hacking device
- Acquire vault keycards
- Get thermal charges
- Get vault explosives
The optional missions are:
- Scout patrol routes
- Disrupt duggan shipments
- Acquire security intel
- Get power drills
- Get security passes
- Acquire masks
- Find reinforced armor
The big con approach
In this approach you don a disguise to get inside the casino, then sneak your way to the vault, drill it open, then grab as much as you can carry and fight your way out.
This is probably the most changeable approach, because you can find different entrance disguises and your plan changes quite a lot based on your entry point.
Through optional setup missions you can plan multiple disguises to get you out of the casino as well.
This approach has six mandatory set up missions which are:
- Get unmarked weapons
- Find getaway vehicles
- Find a hacking device
- Acquire vault keycards
- Get your entry disguise
- Get vault drills
There are seven optional set ups, which include:
- Scout patrol routes
- Disrupt duggan shipments
- Acquire security intel
- Get power drills
- Get security passes
- Acquire masks
- Find an exit disguise
Silent and sneaky approach
This is probably the toughest of the three to pull off successfully. It involves sneaking into the building with silenced pistols without getting caught, before drilling open the vault with a laser and avoiding security cameras to ride off into the sunset.
As with the others, there are six setup missions you have to do, with eight optional ones.
- Get unmarked weapons
- Find getaway vehicles
- Acquire a hacking device
- Get vault keycards
- Acquire a nano drone
- Find vault laser
Your optional missions are the same as the big con, except that you can find an infiltration suit and steal an EMP instead of getting an exit disguise.
Once you’ve chosen your approach, it’s time to get to work. Remember you can pay to skip certain missions, but not all of them.
Completing all of the optional set up missions gives you the best chance of success, but is not 100% necessary. Their main purpose is to give you options for when things go sideways during the job – so if you’re unsure of your plan, make up for it by being prepared.
Which support crew should you choose for the diamond casino heist?
Your support crew for the diamond casino heist consists of a gunman, driver, and hacker.
These basically determine the difficulty level of the heist itself.
A better gunman will equip you with better weaponry.
While a better driver will get you better cars once you make a break for it.
Finally, a better hacker will give you more time in the vault without being detected.
Better support crews come at a higher cut of the total take, and some are more worth it than others. For instance, you’ll definitely want as much time in the vault as possible, so picking an expert hacker is an easy choice. But if you’re not planning on being detected, then top tier guns are a waste.
Take into account your overall approach and choose what fits your style.
GTA online diamond casino heist payout rewards
It’s what you’re here for after all. The total potential take in cash for one run of the diamond casino heist is $2,115,000.
However, you won’t get all of that. Lester takes a small cut, then your support crew all take their allotted piece. There are then optional extras you can buy to help take the heat off of you in the getaway.
Then you actually have to steal and make off with all the money. Any damage you take inside the casino also reduces your take as you drop notes. This means that the rough player take can be anywhere from $400,000 to $1,750,000.
According to @tezfunz2 on twitter, who’s a reliable source for GTA and RDR2 online updates, there are four possible random rewards for the heist in the game’s files – each with their own cap. Diamonds however are not yet available.

Casino heist - maximum payout, vault time & contents, daily cash secret vault

The vault you are looting in GTA online's diamond casino heist can contain anything from cash and artwork to gold, or even diamonds. The payout varies depending on which type of content you find. Cash is the most common loot, followed by artwork, gold and finally diamonds.
Maximum potential payouts & vault contents
The value of your heist haul and maximum potential payout increases as the rarity of the vault content increases. In table below we show you the maximum potential payout and take that you can expect for each type of vault content. The amounts listed are before lester's cut (which will be 5% of the total score), any take penalties (see 'avoid damage' below), paying your crew and of course splitting the remaining take with your fellow players (the casino heist finale is a 2-4 person heist).

Note that the first time you do the heist you will always get cash, and on subsequent attempts you might get artwork, gold or diamonds. It's preferable to get artwork over cash not only because you earn more, but the paintings themselves are actually easier / faster to loot. As you can see in the table above, gold and finally diamonds are easily the most profitable types of loot though.

Which loot you will receive is completely random, but some loot will appear more often than others. In fact, it correlates to the maximum potential payout of the loot types. So cash is most common, followed by artwork and so on through to diamonds. Note, however, that it appears rockstar has the ability to adjust the probability of getting a particular type of loot. For example, during the valentines day events of 2020, it was observed that obtaining diamonds (usually the rarest) became a lot more common/easy.
Approach hard mode
When doing the casino heist you cannot use the same approach twice in a row (it will be locked). However, you can return to a previous approach if you use a different approach in the meantime (like doing aggressive, then big con, then back to aggressive).
The red skull indicates that this approach will be done on "hard mode".
Plus, the approach you are repeating (aggressive in our example) will now have a red skull icon on it (as seen above) indicating that hard mode / higher difficulty will be activated if you proceed with that approach again. This means that the guards will be stronger, there will be more of them and their detection rate will be higher. There will also be six locks to destroy on the vault instead of the normal four, and two fingerprint hacks to do (instead of the regular one).
You do get a monetary bonus for all this added effort though - a 10% increase on the actual potential take versus "regular" difficulty! You can check out a video of us doing hard mode and looting diamonds here.

Avoid damage
There's also no guarantee that you will walk away with the exact amount stated in this guide because as you get into combat situations and take damage you will lose a small amount of money for every hit you take. The amount lost is between 0.12% - 0.26% of the total cash you are carrying at the time. In practice, this means about $2,000 lost per shot.
That's why we always recommend you choose either the big con approach or the silent & sneaky approach for maximum profit, even if they are bit daunting. The aggressive approach is fun and quick, but you risk losing quite a bit of your take due to amount of damage you will inevitably suffer.
Crew and lester's cuts
When calculating your final payout you also need to take your crew members' and lester's cuts into consideration. Lester will take 5% of the total amount and your crew (hacker, driver, etc) payments will vary depending on who you have chosen.
After that it is time for you and your heist-mates (the finale heist is for between 2 to 4 players) to split the percentages amongst yourselves. If two players carry out the heist then you can walk away anywhere between GTA$400,000 to GTA$800,000 each.
Looting diamonds
The ability to loot diamonds from the casino was actually locked when rockstar first released the diamond casino heist content. However, we then discovered that it was unlocked during the week of february 18, 2020 (i.E. For valentine's day).
It has now been confirmed that rockstar has the ability to turn diamonds loot on and off, and that they will enable it for certain events, promotions or other significant dates.
Looting diamonds lets you take the maximum possible payout from the diamond casino heist, which is $3.619 million. Once your support crew and lester's cut are taken out, the amount left for players is $2,714,250.
Vault time
Maximising the amount of time you get inside the vault is essential. Every second counts when it comes to looting it.
Whenever choosing the hacker for your heist we recommend that you always go for the best hackers available, which are paige harris and avi schwartzman. Paige is available by default and takes 9% of the cut. She gives you 3 minutes and 15 seconds in the vault. Avi takes 10% of the cut and gives you 3 minutes 30 seconds. We recommend avi as 15 seconds extra can really make a difference in your end payout.

The time it takes for the animations to play out while you're looting must be considered when working out the time you'll have to work in the vault. On top of that, if you're carrying out the casino heist using either the big con approach or the silent & sneaky approach you must leave the vault before the timer runs out if you want to exit undetected. So adding those extra 15 seconds with avi will allow you to loot the maximum possible content, increasing your final take.
Daily cash secret vault
During the heist you can also grab some extra cash from the secret vault, which is on the ground floor right next to the elevator. The switch to open up the secret vault door is in the CCTV room next to the elevator. You can expect somewhere between $50,000 to $100,000 to be in there. It will vary from heist to heist though.

If you grab the cash from this secret vault you also get an award for doing so called the "daily cash grab", it gives you a 100 RP bonus too.
Overall heist cap limit
The cap on the maximum overall amount you can take in a single heist is GTA$3.619 million. This means that even if you somehow get more than that capped amount, it will be of no use since the maximum you will be able to walk away with is still just GTA$3.619 million. This max amount is possible when you loot diamonds only.
Gold bar glitch
There was a glitch (now patched) which would let you respawn gold bars after you had collected all but the last one. Once you were left with just one gold bar on the tray, you could just back out of the grabbing animation and start taking them again. Then when you were in the grabbing position again, the gold would respawn. The glitch only worked once per gold cart/tray.
By using this glitch some players were reportedly able to "get" up to $4-$5 million. However, even so, due to the aforementioned GTA$3.6 million cap, they still only took away that lower amount. This also means that any other "glitches" that supposedly let you grab more than $3.6 million are useless.
GTA online glitch is making the casino heist impossible to complete
Rockstar games might want to look into a grand theft auto online glitch that is preventing players from successfully completing the diamond casino heist.
The game developers would have been delighted to see a record number of players flock to their online mode when the diamond casino and resort first opened in july last year, not to mention how many returned to steal it following the introduction of a special heist for the gambling venue.
With weekly content updates, GTA online players have even been given the opportunity to pick up diamonds in the rewards too, making it a highly lucrative opportunity for members of the community. However, after completing all of the steps to get to the final mission, some have found a bug in the actual heist that's stopping them from escaping with the loot.
Rockstar games GTA online players can make serious cash in the casino, but not when bugs are spoiling things.
The heist is broken up into different parts, which includes a few different routes to enter the vault where money, diamonds, and gold bars can be found. Some ways of getting inside are easier than others, although they all take time.
With that said, some are getting inside the vault, hacking their way into rooms to collect their takings, only to find that the door has slammed shut behind them. Clearly, this means that they are then unable to exit and ultimately die to the security system gas once the timer runs out.
This issue can be seen in a reddit post from 'itsnotvortex,' below. They asked: "anyone else had this glitch?" and a fair few responded, claiming to have experienced the same thing as well.
One user responded by claiming when this layout of loot appears, one cart room is usually bugged, while another stated that they had seen the bug only when completing the heist using an aggressive approach. Another joked that the casino might have stepped up their security efforts, but that's obviously not true.
Whether or not many players have been impacted by this problem is unclear, although it is clear that a handful – at least – have been left frustrated by it. After all, checking off all of those setup tasks and then not being able to complete the heist at the end isn't ideal. The heist itself could be worth up to $2,115,000, and even higher when diamonds are included in the loot.
Players will be hoping that rockstar rolls out a hotfix for the problem soon, hopefully before these diamonds leave the game.

Let’s get the biggest question out of the way first, how much will you earn from the diamond casino heist. The payout is 2.1 million dollars and that is quite a lot of money!
Keeping in view that lester will get 60k as his cut. The rest will be then divided among the heist participants. So it’s important that you make the most out of the well-defended diamond vault.
Diamond casino heist setup
before anything else, firstly you have to buy a retro arcade and for that, you will meet lester in the mirror park where he will guide you through the available properties in eyelid.
Depending upon cash available and your preference you will have to buy a property that will then act as your planning area later. Along with the property you have to buy some arcade equipment and earn cash out of that.
You can also get pixel pete’s arcade for free from maze bank if you are a twitch prime subscriber. Once you have both the property and the gaming platforms available a cutscene will play where you will be planning the heist!
There will be an exclusive planning board which must be filled as the plan develops before execution
Planning will require a bunch of tasks to do including scoping out the casino, finding access points and points of interest, persons of interest, doing optional tasks of planning, scoping the diamond vault itself and some side task. These are all the setup missions that will finally let you select the approach of starting the heist where one is STEALTH, allowing you to steal most of the contents undetected
Scoping out the casino inside out, taking pictures of the access points which can be found even more easily if you buy the model of the casino and then sending the pictures to lester is one of the setup missions.
On the model purchased, all the blue dots are the access points you must take pictures of 6 of these and send them to lester. The doors with keypads next to them are of the most importance.
Also, take the pictures of the cameras guarding those doors. When you take the picture only those can be sent to lester which may be useful and the phone tells you that.
Just keep in mind that you must not forget any BLUE DOT on the model.
Then you must head inside the casino taking pictures of the door with the keypads and all the cameras around and make your way to AGATHA’S office and take the picture of the blueprints on her desk.
As you go back to the arcade you will see the board filling up. The point of interest must be scoped when you scope the vault content.
One the board, interact with the VAULT content and you can scope the vault area through CCTV cameras and pick the point of interests as you go through the different footages.
Once you’ve done this, head back to the arcade and look up at the board. The board will be filled indicating that the planning stage is done!
Casino heist
the GTA online diamond casino heist execution starts now! You drive to the casino along with the participants of the heist as you chose and walk inside through the front door, go to AGATHA’s office where a cutscene starts at the end of which you can get to the staff entrance door using the card you just get in the scene.
Make your way to the basement, stay sneaky as this should be a stealth mission clearing the guards on the way. Enter the security room and clear it out.
If you get suspected then the alarm will blow off. Use the elevator that will take you down to basement 1, take out the guards in the area. After that make your way to the steel door and interact with the keypads along with your partner.
Run towards the vault door, drill through the door locks which is a time taking process where you have to drill through the two points to disable two locks.
Once the door opens you can start looting till you reach the door where you will use the fingerprints you have to unlock it.
You have only limited time before the nerve agent starts releasing and you have to leave the vault.
Once the gas is released run back and swipe the cards simultaneously in the keypads with your partner, clear the way as there will be guards and make your way to waste disposal area! The game will lead you to the exit.
From there you have to run towards the parking area. On your way you will encounter some swat teams as well so be prepared.
Drive all the way to the buyer but it isn’t that way the police cars will be on your tail so you have to reach the destination while keeping away from them.
Avoid all the roadblocks on the way and finally lose the cops. When you reach the destination you will have to wait for all the participants to gather there.
The cut scene will play where you will deliver the bags to the buyers and your share will appear on the screen.
